Renewable Straws

Replanting and Replacement

BAMBOO & TIMBER REPLANTED FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Bamboo & timber for straws is harvested from managed plantations
Replanting is encouraged after their life-cycle has ended

Which one?

Bamboo Straws

or

Wood Straws

Replanting and Replacement - Trees are a natural resource that can be renewed by replanting trees that have been used to produce wood straws. Bamboo used for straws is self-regenerating with new shoots appearing annually after harvesting

Plantations - Intensive management can yield up to 14 times more wood per hectare than native forests. This also enables a uniform, high-quality and cost-competitive timber for straws. Equally, intensive managed bamboo plantations can yield up to 80% more bamboo per hectare than native forests

Carbon Emissions - Both bamboo and wood forests help with capturing and storing atmospheric carbon. Bamboo straws and wood straws help provide continuing storage of carbon which in turn creates a better environment for regrowth and renewal

Most Bamboo, Most Trees - China is the largest producer of bamboo in the world and Russia has the most trees
